The iconic Panama Canal -- it offers something for everyone! Our itinerary aboard Caribbean Princess sails roundtrip Ft Lauderdale, beginning with two relaxing sea days before our first port of call at the colorful island of Curacao -- one of the best-kept secrets in the Caribbean with world-class beaches, historic colonial architecture and a unique fusion of Caribbean & European cultures. The next stop -- Cartagena, a UNESCO Heritage Site that dates back to 1500. Whether you opt to explore with a walking tour within the walls of its Old City or opt to head out for a Mangrove tour, you will find something unforgettable in this port of call ... including an option to get down and dirty with a Mud Volcano Bath!
Of course, the historic Panama Canal is the star of our itinerary. Our partial transit cruise goes through the "new" locks -- but several excursion options offer the chance to transit the old canal, providing a close-up look at the locks, still functioning today just as they were built over 100 years ago. Whether you are interested in history, culture, wildlife or just want to take in the breathtaking scenery, the Panama Canal will not disappoint as there are a myriad of exciting excursion options to suit every interst and activity level. Two of our favorites have included a full Canal transit aboard a small ferry and a fascinating rail excursion across the country, traveling parallel to the Old Canal.
Then we're on to Limon, Costa Rica, one of our all-time favorite Caribbean ports. From a sedate city tour to boating along the Tortoguero Canal, visiting banana plantations, zip lining across the jungle .... all that and more to choose from in this fascinating port of call. We'll have three relaxing sea days before our final call at the new Celebration Key before docking back in Ft Lauderdale on January 22.
